Students from UNWE Demonstrate Their Potential in the Energy Sector by Joining SUNOTEC's Annual Scholarship Program

The leading European engineering company in the construction and management of photovoltaic projects, SUNOTEC, has launched a scholarship programme at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) to support students who have demonstrated interest and potential in green energy.
The SUNOTEC scholarship is a one-time award of BGN 2,000, granted annually to foster the development of young professionals who can contribute their expertise to energy transformation.
The selection committee, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Vladimir Zinoviev PhD, Director of the Research Center for Energy Business and Infrastructure at UNWE, evaluated not only the essays on current topics in green energy but also the students’ overall academic and extracurricular performance.
Kaloyan Velichkov, Founder and CEO of SUNOTEC said during the official certificate award ceremony:
“SUNOTEC actively collaborates with the experts from the Research Center for Energy Business and Infrastructure at UNWE in developing and implementing numerous regional initiatives. As a leading company in the sector, SUNOTEC recognises the importance of corporate science and the potential it holds in the medium and long term. Through these scholarships, we aim to encourage students to invest more time and effort into enhancing their knowledge and skills; to travel, seek mentors, and explore career opportunities in the sector. Our scholarship recipients are ambitious, inquisitive, and intelligent. I wish them to maintain these qualities in the future.”
The SUNOTEC scholarship recipients are:
- Kaloyan Todorov, third-year undergraduate, Economics of Transport and Energy, author of the essay "Perspectives for the Development of Bulgaria's Electricity Sector under Decarbonisation."
- Irina Kapiziyina, fourth-year undergraduate, Economics of Transport and Energy, author of the essay "Economic Benefits of Implementing Innovation in the Electricity Sector."
- Maria Traykova, first-year master’s student, Law, author of the essay "Legal Norms for Building Battery Storage Facilities for Renewable Energy Sources."
“The achievements of Kaloyan, Irina, and Maria are the best proof of the expertise developed at UNWE and the future of Bulgarian energy, which these young people will shape. I believe that more of our university graduates will choose careers in the sector and become its most valuable asset,” concluded Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vladimir Zinoviev at the end of the official ceremony.
