Solaris Holding Commissions New Hybrid Renewable Energy Park Near Selanovtsi Village

[Sofia, Bulgaria, June 27, 2025] - SUNOTEC and Eurohold Celebrate the Launch of Bulgaria’s Newest Hybrid Solar and Battery Power Plant.

A significant milestone in Bulgaria’s green energy transformation was reached last week as Solaris Holding AD, a joint venture between Bulgarian-German solar solutions leader SUNOTEC and the principal shareholders of Eurohold Bulgaria AD, officially inaugurated the Selanovtsi Hybrid Photovoltaic Power Plant. The new facility, located in the municipality of Oryahovo, Vratsa region, seamlessly combines large-scale solar generation with state-of-the-art energy storage.

Backed by UBB and Germany’s Varengold Bank AG, the Selanovtsi PV plant is equipped with an installed capacity of 59.8 MWp and an integrated battery energy storage system of 107.3 MWh. With an expected annual output of 79,892.71 MWh, the plant will power more than 22,000 households and offset over 1 million tons of harmful emissions, making a meaningful contribution to Bulgaria’s and Europe’s decarbonisation goals.

Spanning nearly 38 hectares, the facility comprises 103,116 photovoltaic panels, and its battery modules utilise LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) technology for reliable and efficient storage. A workforce of 250 experts, predominantly from SUNOTEC, brought the project to life under tight deadlines and demanding conditions.

Innovation for Grid Stability

What sets Selanovtsi apart is its hybrid design, enabling energy generated during low-demand hours to be stored and later dispatched during peak periods. This capability significantly improves grid balancing, system efficiency, and the integration of renewables into the national power system.

Proven Partnership, Proven Impact

With a track record of delivering over 600 MW of renewable projects and 2,000 MWh of storage across Bulgaria and the region, Solaris Holding once again proves its leadership in the clean energy space.

Vasil Stefanov, shareholder in the project and Head of M&A at Eurohold, noted:
“Selanovtsi PV is another successful project delivered by Solaris Holding on challenging terrain. Thanks to our partners at SUNOTEC and UBB, we’ve turned a bold vision into a functioning example of sustainable infrastructure. Projects like this are the foundation of a greener, energy-independent future.”

Kaloyan Velichkov, CEO of SUNOTEC, added:
“This hybrid power plant stands as proof of our commitment to sustainable energy and innovation. More than 250 SUNOTEC specialists contributed their expertise. We are proud to play a key role in Bulgaria’s energy transition.”

Vladimir Dichev, CCO at Electrohold Bulgaria EOOD, commented:
“Selanovtsi PV allows us to offer flexible, competitive green energy solutions to our clients. With its storage capacity, the plant ensures efficient energy use and a reduced load on the grid. This project strengthens our position as a reliable partner for Bulgaria’s industrial and commercial sectors.”

The Selanovtsi PV Plant sets a new benchmark for renewable energy infrastructure in the Balkans, integrating innovation, sustainability, and partnership at scale.
